Racism or Ethnic Prejudice

Race: The distinction of physical characteristics genetically passed town from generation to generation and used to divide the human population in to subgroups.

Race needed to first be defined before I could begin about the topic of racism. Since the division of race  is technically not race but ethnicity. Ethnicity refers to the geographic locale that a specific (i.e. Mexico/ Mexican) group of people originated from.  Therefore; Race and racism are incorrect terms and racism is the classification of one group of people (i.e. Americans) being superior to another (i.e. Africans). Which is not true because that's making ethnicity a bigger problem than it really should be.

Though Racism exists the correct term should be ethnic prejudice because those that are seen as racist are actually just filled with an irrational intolerance for those a a specific nationality or ethnicity. For example some people are prejudice against the African American population because they feel threatened in some way. Some feel an intolerance for other believe systems or cultural customs that other groups of humans hold.

We need to work to end Ethnic/ National Prejudice. We need to learn about and respect the different faith systems and cultural customs of other groups of humans. Everyone needs to respect not necessarily agree with or condone the belief sets or customs that are held by different ethnic groups but we need to respect them and tolerate those that are with in reason.  We need to each the coming generations not to bash others for the beliefs but rather to have on honest and respectful conversation so that both sides and educate each other and learn to co-exist with each other as well as agree to disagree with out fighting each other over every little discrepancy.

Society

What does society tell us about marriage?

Society and pop culture seem to view marriage as a "we will be together  until I meet the next person". Or as the song by Faith Hill goes :Good morning, dearly beloved
I'd like to welcome ya'll
To see the side-effects of sex and alcohol
Please bow your heads and join me
In a prayer for these two
Who'll be together forever
'til they find somebody new
So many celebrities seem to think that vows are a thing to be taken lightly. Ok I'll say "I Do" and in an hour well get it annulled. It is as if they feel I Do is simply I Do for now and once I regret it or feel as though I cannot handle it I will get it annulled or get a divorce.

Why is it so much easier for normal Americans to think that follow suit of celebrities is alright? The rest of society seems to follow suit so quickly and get divorced at a hitch in the road rather than talking it through and communicating to get a past the difficult bump in the road. Like the show Friends were Ross and Rachel got married during a drunken stupor in Vegas then got divorced once they both became sober and returned to New York.

The divorce rate needs to lower and society needs to stop leading by poor example. Wedding vows are serious business and should be taken as such. They are not jokes no matter how funny it may appear in movies or television for a couple to get divorced immediately.

Life's Psych Out

I'm working on trying to find a job. I miss having something to do on a regular basis. I do have a job lead. I had a phone screen interview earlier. I also am waiting to hear about grad school. I have applied and gone to the interview but have to wait for a bit to hear about acceptance. Than I can move on to get all the classes planned and find either a grad assistant position or do the tuition waiver. I just need to have something to do more frequently to keep me busy. One can only scour job boards for so long.

I am getting better at cleaning the cat box though sometimes its still hit and miss. The can has gotten older and is calmer and tends to do more sleeping. I am trying to figure out a cleaning schedule for the house but can seem to get myself to just begin one. I also need to find a better balance between tv, writing and job search.

I have began to write again though I have hit a pause mainly due to the fact that I am in the job hunt and the computer goes between me and my hubby. The story is going well. I just need to get on a roll and not stop. I'm thinking about maybe attempting to get it published after I finish it.

I need to get on a bible study schedule and try to do an in depth study.
